Celestial Depth - Eagle Nebula Study 1

"Eagle Nebula Study 1"

Completed: 1.27.08

mixed media: acrylics, watercolors, marker, charcoal

Here is my first study for my Eagle Nebula painting. I like the colors I started with in the center where the triangle shape is. I used all the colors I saw in the photos first, but I think I might want to select just a few colors to use. I'm leaning towards blues, greens, oranges, and blacks. I then added the bigger stars with silver acrylic paint with a paint brush, then smaller stars with toothbrush bristles. In the process, I shook the acrylic paint bottle to get the paint near the lid. However, I forgot that the lid was not on all the way, and it flew off. I was covered with "stars" and am still doing laundry... :D
