5" x 5" ~ Watercolor on PaperAnother one of my Magnolias. This one is an overhead view of a Magnolia bursting open. The rich blue background is the same color as the shadows on the petals, a way to tie the entire watercolor together. I like using this color on the petals, I think it gives them that "waxy" look that is a Magnolia. The good news is that our Magnolias didn't freeze. They are blooming gloriously now, and I plan on getting lots of reference photos. Tomorrow is Cherry Day.
