11" x 8" ~ Watercolor on PaperWe're all about the drama today. This White Peony was painted with more colors then you'd probably imagine. When I teach my workshops, I try and enable people to learn to "see". The more you paint, the easier it will be for you to be able to "see" the colors in things. Reflected color. Shadow color. Object color. The background is very warm colors gold to red to black. I wanted to reflect the warmth from the peony's inner glow and carry it through to the background. It's a Peony, so it took forever to do. You gain respect for your level of concentration when you're lost in the middle of all the delicate petals. And by the way, most of the peony and leaves were done with a #2 Loew-Cornell brush. I love that brush!!
