This painting has tons of incredibly interesting parts and it was challenging from the beginning, in fact I've been trying to paint this image ever since I took the picture in our second road trip to France back in 2005. I'm not good at painting cars, and on top having to paint such a beautiful old car I admit was nervous from the start, what a beauty!
On our second road trip to France, we had the opportunity to stop on literally every single town we found on our way to Paris. You have no idea how beautiful is to drive through out France until you reach Paris, what a nightmare of city! in terms of driving of course. After Poitiers, we drove through the town of Richelieu, yes the town of Cardinal Richelieu. On our way out we stopped at a small palace to take some pictures and soon we found ourselves stepping back in time... well kind of. A rally of old cars was taking place. The people sure looked like they were lost, which was perfect for me to take pictures. Quite a few cars passed in front of us and even did a U turn right on the parking lot we were standing on. Every people on the streets just stopped to watch the parade of beautiful cars. This couple was truly lost. They drove back and forth 5 times until finally they stopped where we were standing and after the woman looked at the manual and talked to her partner, finally it seems they found their way to continue the rally and all the cars disappeared. I was amazed at how some were dressed, like the lady in this car. They sure seemed to be having a great time.
