This was painted last summer in Vermont, June 2008. It's a very classic view of the Stowe Community Church, which is a beacon representative of the town of Stowe, Vermont. The painting was done near Percy Farm, high up on a hill looking down towards the town. Done in the late afternoon as the sun was going down. While I was painting this, it was somewhat windy, and clouds were coming and going passing over the sun so that the lighting conditions where changing constantly. So I had to make a decision as to what would be in shadow and what would be in light, so in the painting, the distant mountain is in shadow and the nearby trees are catching late bright.
