
Sunflowers have pretty much been defined by Van Gogh. He painted them frequently, probably about 15 of them however there is some problem about all of them being authentic. One was sold to a Japanese for about 40 million dollars that became a sort of scandal because some claimed it was a forgery. Another painting of Van Gogh sunflowers was sold for 85 million. I guess it was considered authentic. They are native to the Americas - the Peruvians worshipped them as a symbol of the sun. E-mail me at artistjohnwlong@live.com
