Great Horned Owls are magnificent birds. Less seen in daylight, they are stealthy hunters at dusk and throughout the night. There are several in the woods near my farmstead. In the still of the night, you can often hear their "whoo - whoo - whoo" - even through the walls of the house.
Wingspans can measure up to 3 feet across.
