Knotted Garden Gate

The garden gate is marked by old verbenea trees, browned and rough with little thorns. They twist and grow into themselves, yet leave us enough space to peek beyond the branches into a small arbor. Thriving baby roses and ivy twine and grace the arbor. Look beyond and you will see a child, roses in hand, protected by a pod. Perhaps she is waiting for the cocoon to ripen, when she will spread her wings and fly. Perhaps she is caught in this flowering maze, unable to move.
