8"x 10" oil...
I was aiming for a treatment of the waterfowl here,
Northern Shovelers...the same as my painterly work
of the landscape. I reserved darkest darks, lightest
lights, and purer color for the ducks to establish
their visual dominance.
My secondary concern was that the depiction of the
wings not be a total lie, as though every feather could
be counted. Working for a slight suggestion of motion.
