This is an example of one of my commissioned portraits, completed just before Christmas. I'm a daily painter, but certainly don't complete a portrait in one day. I find I need many hours over several days to get to know my subject and even when using photos as a reference, this is still the case. I search to find that expression or look to the eye which makes that person unique then I work away no matter how long it takes until I've translated it onto the canvas as best I possibly can.
