Magnolia ~ Jacqueline Gnott Watercolor Studio

7" x 7" ~ Watercolor on Paper

This Magnolia has a soft background of moss greens and rusts and blacks. All very dark so the Magnolia will stand out. A little different then the cobalt and blacks that I usually use for the white flowers. Always experimenting and trying new things. I kept the branch pretty dark too so as to not interfere with the blossom. I had found a beautiful Magnolia tree near the downtown area a couple of weeks ago and I think I took around 70 reference photos. The sun was just right and it was truly glorious. Can't wait to paint those.
