Lavender Flowers 5x5 acrylic on wood panel

One day I shall find out the true name of these flowery spikes. They border the hedges on my front lawn. This is an acrylic painting for only one reason - I felt like when the under painting was completed that it was alright just there. For one thing I want a smooth surface, (which is only a preference , Lord knowns Rembrandt and Monet were masters of impasto ). I paint transparent oil glazes over an acrylic under painting, so that I can enrich the colors and soften the edges as only oils can do., and still have a smooth surface. But sometimes you seem to get "there" before you get there.
