Limes and Lemons app 3 1/2 x 11 1/2 Oil on wood panel

There is a skillfully decorated home in Missouri where I did a lot of paintings. Even the dining room - which had a cove ceiling- was painted with lattice work. With the exception of white walls and carpets, every thing was citrus yellow or green with an occasional pop of red. Even in the kitchen. I always felt, after I had spent a few hours in that house, that I had sucked a lemon. Once, she had a white breakfast table and chairs, an antique from the thirties or twenties that she had bought. It was finished in a lush glossy white and she wanted lemons and leaves twining around it. It took a day to accomplish but I must say it was beautiful. Several days later I received an urgent call to go back and solve a problem. She had decided to put some sort of Urethane spray on it and it had turned into the color of pink sherbet. It was not even a consistent shade of pink, but wavered from deep to pale. Ugh. I took longer to get it off and redone that I had spent on it originally. Of course I got paid for the extra time.
