This was the closest church to my place in Kyiv but shamefully I only popped in there a few times. Being a historic landmark, it’s as much a place of worship, as a place for appreciating good art and architecture. The frescoes inside are by Vrubel and his students. I think it’s the incident with an overly-zealous babushka at the church (I tried to take a picture inside) kept me away. Surprisingly many young people still come to places like this, if not for traditional worship, then for some form of personal meditation.
2008 oil on panel 15×15 cm
