Like Monet and his haystacks, I have explored the theme of Peach Lake, to the degree that the painting isn't a depiction of a tree or a lake or a backdrop panorama, but instead a reflection of the conditions of the day, the time of day, the light, the weather, the changing seasons, not to mention my own temperament and feelings in response to these changes.
This was painted this past winter, in December of 2008. It is a scene of dawn on Peach Lake, in Brewster, NY in the Hudson Valley, New York. It is a clear dawn without any clouds and the sun is just coming up over the horizon with a golden light. Overall there is a soft unifying harmony of color and light. The tree act as a repousser putting all else back into space.
