This was painted in August of 2008 (last summer). It was painted on the grounds of the Vanderbilt Estate in Hyde Park, NY. It shows the back side, the side of the mansion, looking out toward the Hudson River. Within the mansion would be a magnificent view looking out toward the Catskill mountains which are especially beautiful at sunset, at about the time or somewhat later than the actual time that I painted this, as the rays of sun shine upon the mansion and light up the grass, and cast cool shadows from the upright trees. The Beaux Art architecture of the building captivate me with it's beauty.
