ALERT: You are about to view art of a different nature. These are paintings on glass -- that is, painted directly onto glass with specially formulated glass paints. They are always framed for the protection of the glass. The paints often are transparent and sometimes opaque, giving a stained glass appearance under good light. They, like all fine art, should not be hung in direct sunlight. The photographs do not do them justice -- my colors are very vibrant. Close ups are available, just e-mail me for information (see below). In most instances, click on the actual image for an even larger image to view -- you'll see lots of different items such as marbelization, transparent or opaque parts of the work -- try it and see! Commissions are accepted.
So, the fascination with bougainvilleas and flowers in general continues. These babies just come in the very hottest, almost neon, colors, making them I spend painting them wonderful. The hot pinks really jump out and not everyone realizes that the vividly colored leaves aren't actually the flowers -- the tiny white flowers, almost 1/4" across, are the true flowers. The leaves are the ornamentation -- I saw these growing several stories high in Rome several years ago -- amazing how they get their thorns out and hang onto the walls. Those thorns also can really hurt your skin and cause an allergic reaction -- I had one a while back. I have grown bougainvillea for some time with success but have had no luck in propagating them, having tried two or three different techniques. Oh well, at least I can paint them and propagate them in that manner!
