Elin Pendleton Doberman Painting for "Mug Shots" Show

The challenge of painting something for a show creates an energy in my painting that results in some of my best "painterly" work. Here's a 10 x 8 inch oil of my long gone doberman Evoe, and the source material for this was about a postage-stamp-sized head in a scene from my old front porch when I lived in Lake Elsinore.
Evoe was a well-bred girl, with Shinya and Marienberg lines on both sides. Her elegance and grace are still in my mind, and I paint her with the love and poignant memory of her presence in my life. Can we love anything any less?
This painting and one other will be on display for the Canine Art Guild's "Mug Shots" online show, opening later in March 2011. I hope you'll visit it when it is uploaded and enjoy the art painted from our hearts.
