Osprey Watercolor Painting is 11 x 12 inches on Arches 140
lb paper. Recently an article in our local newspaper Providence
Journal, ran a story about a nest two osprey had built in a dangerous
area that the electric company was moving to a better location for when
they return in the spring.
Its shrill scream seems yet to linger
in its throat, and the roar of the sea in its wings. There is the
tyranny of Jove in its claws,
and his wrath in the erectile feathers of the head and neck. It reminds
me of the Argonautic expedition, and would inspire the dullest to take
flight over Parnassus.
Henry David Thoreau
