Russell Baker - Cobra in Oil - 16 x 20 Oil on stretched canvas
Cobra in Oil – Those who know cars will recognize this and those who don’t, probably will not care. In the 60s while living in Wichita, KS I had the pleasure of ride in an original Cobra. They were not common, but there were a few around. They could only be described as brute force with a gas pedal. Now a days I see a replica cobra fairly often and it sounds just like the real thing. The proud owner drives it through the parking lot of our local coffee shop on nice days and every one focuses on it. Once he parked next to my Porsche and I actually felt humbled. There is nothing else like a Cobra. I just finished it today so will not auction it until it dries a little.
