A 1930's Treasure
pronounced (bake -a- lite)
Bakelite is a material using formaldehyde resin with other materials in a labor intensive production process. It was developed in 1907–1909 by Belgian Dr. Leo Baekeland was the first plastic made from synthetic components.
Known for its beautiful qualities and color, it is highly prized in costume jewelry, buttons, ladies handbags and other utilitarian items such as radios, telephones, furniture etc. These items have become highly collectible.

This piece looks great standing up as well as on the wall.
The painting is small, so it is signed on the back.

This is the fourth in the series.
The idea came to me to conceive a postage stamp series as part of my daily painting practices. Americana is the theme. The painting is done on a small 5" x 5" x 1-1/2" canvas. The country is USA Postage is 04, or four cents. This postage also describes that this is the 4th of the series. Three cents is still in the works and still unfinished. I hope you will enjoy collecting these paintings as much as I am enjoying thinking them up and painting them.
