Don Gibson Portrait

Mary Sparrow Smith was commissioned by Bobbi Gibson, wife of the late singer/songwriter Don Gibson to paint the performers portrait to be displayed in the theater named for him.

The legendary country music artist was inducted into the Nashville Songwriter's Hall of Fame and the Country music Hall of fame for an amazing body of work including "I Can't Stop Loving You" recorded by Ray Charles and Patsy Cline's "Sweet Dreams".

The Grand Opening for the theater is scheduled for this Saturday, November 21 in Shelby, NC with a performance by 4 time Grammy winner Marty Stuart.

The photo shown is of the artist, Mary and Mrs. Gibson as the portrait was installed this week in the theater.

A very nice job on Don's portrait! As a past country performer, I used to do many of his great songs.
