Theresa ~~ Painting a Dog a Day by Kimberly Kelly Santini

"Violet," from the Theresa's Rainbow series of paintings done in 2008, 8" square, pit bull portrait depicting the diva extraordinaire Theresa from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. This painting was done in acrylics on canvas panel and is available for purchase, either exquisitely framed ($349) or in au-naturale ($299). Please inquire.

Additionally, proceeds from the sale of any/all of the Theresa imagery benefits Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. If you don't know about Best Friends, please take a minute to introduce yourself to their website and mission.

A world of no more homeless pets would be a truly beautiful place.

Theresa may not ever get her forever home (she's been a long-time resident at Best Friends, in part due to ongoing medical needs).

In the meantime, she's been a most excellent spokes model (did you happen to catch her on National Geographic's Dogtown?). And a perfectly behaved sleep-over guest for the hordes of admiring fans who have visited her at the Sanctuary over the years.

Please join me in sending a bevy of virtual belly scratches Theresa's way - can you hear her tail thumping in response?

Thanks, as always, for looking at and sharing my artwork with your friends and family -
Kim

"Theresa's Rainbow," a limited edition giclee including all 8 images making up the series of "Ball" paintings

The Seed of an Idea

It all started innocently enough - a client requested a commission of a dog who had stolen her heart. A dog she couldn't adopt herself, but she could continue to love from afar and visit off and on during the year. A dog she needed to have a sliver of in her home.

Then I got to meet said dog, Theresa, and understood completely. Her foibles (most noteably her fixation/love of large rubber balls), made her all the more endearing.

Clearly one painting wasn't nearly enough to properly express all the facets of Theresa.

So what does an artist do?

An artist (or perhaps a certifiable artist) paints multiple images. 8 to be exact.

Then said paintings get rearranged as a grouping and issued as a limited edition giclee, with the proceeds benefitting the muse.

A few copies remain of "Theresa's Rainbow," which is available in both a large (24" x 12", $99) and small (12" x 6", $49) size.

There are also a few of the original Theresa paintings remaining.

Inquiries may come to me.
